SUMMER CAMP 2011

Our Summer Camp Program started June 13, 2011 and ended August 5, 2011.  Activities included lessons in life skills, weekly trips to the library for our summer reading program, bowling, nature walks, swimming, movies, and roller skating.  Additionally, we joined forces again with Gulf Breeze United Methodist Church for a unique camp experience called Winshape.  Winshape is a camp connecting children in local communities with an awesome camp experience.  It is a one-week day camp from 7:45 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for students who have completed 1^st-6^th grade.  As one of 45 locations in the nation, Chick-fil-a, brought its Winshape camp to Gulf Breeze the week of June 20^th through June 24th.  It was an action-packed week and one that our kids thoroughly enjoyed.  Due to the success of this year's Summer Camp, 12 children identified as "in crucial need" of additional reading skills were selected to attend an additional two weeks of camp.  As a result, these childen were able to start back to school - classroom ready!

BOOK BAGS FOR BACK TO SCHOOL

There were many smiling faces and children eager to return to school this year as a result of everyone's generous help with their donations in providing backpacks and supplies for our children to begin their school year.   Thanks to all who helped:  Five Flags Rotary of Pensacola, Gulf Breeze United Methodist Church, and all of our supporters.

JUDGE'S CHOICE AWARD

The United Methodist Women of First United Methodist Church presented the Judges' Choice Award to Milk and Honey at the 6th Annual Designing Women's Luncheon which was held on Saturday, August 20, 2011.  We want to thank Mrs. Nancy Shealy for her design idea and hard work in putting the table together.
